“Lodestar is a story that has lived with me for a long time, quietly waiting to be told. Based on a short story written by my older sister in 2021, it carries with it a deeply personal weight – a reflection of memory, nostalgia, and the unspoken connections that shape us. Our father’s childhood home on the Surf Coast was demolished in our adolescence, a house that carried imagined familial memories, as well as some of our own early childhood memories. This story is an imagining of the complex emotions that arise having the chance to say a final goodbye to something” – Maxine Zonini
